Christmas Quiltalong

Did you know that Sew Fresh Quilts is hosting the Have a Jolly Little Christmas Quiltalong? Lorna is releasing a new pattern every two weeks and there are a wide variety of layout ideas to inspire your creativity.
I'm not going to sew all the blocks because I don't need another large Christmas quilt, but many of these blocks are just too cute to resist, so I will likely sew one of each of the block patterns just to get in on the fun.
Here are my first 3 blocks... the mittens, the Christmas bow, and the stockings. If you scroll down on the link up page you can see what other blocks have already been made.

Paris and Bears

That's an unusual subject line, eh?
I am speaking tonight at the quilt guild in Paris at 7 pm at the Paris Fairgrounds. That's the city of Paris in Ontario, not the Paris which is in France! I am looking forward to meeting lots of quilters and seeing what's new in their quilting world.

In my quilt studio, the bear quilt has been started.
It was hard to narrow down the fabric choices. I think the sashing fabric will be the clincher and I haven't made a final decision on that yet. I see in my mind's eye how my project will be, but I'm not 100% sure yet if it will turn out as I am hoping. Brown is a hard colour for me to work with. My browns all seemed to be too dark, which might be a good thing since I want to make a black bear. I'm just not sure if the contrast will be enough.
But I started anyway. If we wait to start until we are certain of the outcome, nothing would ever be started!
I'll be making these blocks for a while ...one down, 96 to go!

Design Wall Monday

I have started another project and it's all Lori's fault!Lori over at Humble Quilts hosts great quilt-alongs, and she is starting another one.
Uh-oh.
"Hello. My name is Kathy and I admit that I am a quilt-along-aholic."
These are my step #1 pieces.

Many of these little 1.5" squares were from my scrap box so I didn't have to do much cutting. I sewed the squares on my old blue White to give it a workout. It sewed beautifully.

These quilts are from Lori's previous quilt-alongs.

Cosmopolitan (Pink Lemonade)

I love each one of these quilts and can't wait to see how this next one turns out.

Nabby's Dowry

T.G.I.F.

And you know what that means... another block pattern is posted for the Nabby's Dowry Quilt-Along!
This is a no-stress Pocket Patchwork adventure and I'm really enjoying the process of anticipating each Friday's release of a new block pattern.

Here are the first four blocks of my version of the quilt-along.
I'm on my way to hop over to Pam's and see what she has for us to sew today!

TGIF!

Photo From Quiltville

T.G.I.F.

It's Friday... and you know what that means!

A new Nabby's Dowry Sew-Along block is posted.

Here is my block from last week. I wish I wouldn't have put those two pink blocks in the center. I think it really draws your eye there.
Funny how I didn't notice that until I looked at the photo on the computer screen! I might change it later when I have all the blocks done, but I might just forget that it ever bugged me, and leave it as is! LOL
Are you playing along?!?
Never too late to join in...just grab some HST's! and start sewing!

Nabby's Dowry - first block

I am still putzing along with finishing the HST's for my Nabby's Dowry mystery.
Here is my first 6" block (pattern released last friday) and it is so cute! I have a lot of variety to chose from in my finished HST's, but wouldn't you know it, I put the same dark blue in the two bottom corners?! Well, random does mean random, so I'm leaving it, and hoping that in the final quilt design, it won't bother me.
This is a fun, "summer paced" mystery project, so why not join in the fun...it's not too late to catch up! You might even have some HST's hanging around that need to be used up...this is the perfect project for them.
For inspiration, hop over at the Wraggedy Patches blog to see Candace's scrap happy block...scroll down past her wonderful aqua blocks, and you'll see how she is using up HST's from another project. Tell her Kathy said to drop by!
